About Punta Islita
Punta Islita is a remote hillside resort and village on the southern Nicoya coast, south of Sámara and Carrillo, known for its cliff-top infinity pool, the open-air art museum in the village, a macaw release programme and a private beach with almost nobody on it.
It is one of the most secluded stays in Guanacaste, which makes the transfer part of the experience.
The ride from San José Airport (SJO)
From Liberia Airport allow 2.5 to 3 hours: paved through Nicoya and Sámara, then about 40 minutes of gravel road and river crossings along the coast past Carrillo. Our drivers know the road in every season. From Sámara it is about 45 minutes.
Good to know before you arrive
- Bring cash for the village; cards are accepted at the hotel only.
- Ask for the beach club shuttle from the hotel; the walk down is steep.
- The road can be slow after heavy rain in September and October.
- Carrillo, 40 minutes north, is the nearest town with restaurants outside the hotel.
