The ride from Tamarindo
From Liberia Airport the drive is only 25 to 30 minutes on paved road via Route 1 and the Sardinal turn-off. Tamarindo is about an hour south, Papagayo 15 minutes north. Your driver drops you at your hotel, condo or house, including the developments up on the ridge toward Ocotal.
Good to know before you arrive
- Dive boats leave around 7:30 am; book the night before through your operator.
- The town beach is fine for a swim but Playa Hermosa and Ocotal are prettier and quieter.
- Coco has the region's best selection of restaurants and a large supermarket for self-catering.
- Sunday afternoons are busy with local families; weekdays are relaxed.
